Why You Should Choose Accredited Contractors

Whether you’re employing an electrical contractor to undertake a minor domestic installation, or finding a partner for a large-scale industrial or commercial project, you want to be confident they’re up to the job.

Performing due diligence when engaging suppliers, however, can be a minefield.

Looking at a company’s website is all well and good, but the information is naturally biased as it’s published by the company themselves.

You might ask for supplied references, but how confident can you be in these? They can only inform of performance on a select number of jobs that have been satisfactorily completed.

Platforms such as Check-a-trade and My Builder go so far in offering independent reviews, but these can be open to manipulation by unscrupulous competitors.

Putting potential contractors through a comprehensive tendering process is preferable, but it takes a great deal of time and effort.

So, what’s the answer?

This is why we advocate placing your trust in professional accreditations.

Maintaining a set standard

The reasoning behind accreditations is to provide unequivocal proof that a company meets set criteria that demonstrate they are proficient in what they do. The testing procedure to ensure they meet the necessary standards can be pretty intense, but it’s intentionally challenging.

If a company has met the required standard to become certified, it means you can rest assured they are as good as they say they are. These certificates are not awarded lightly.

Demonstrating work ethic

Because the accreditation process can be lengthy, time-consuming and at times stressful, it also weeds out those who lack the work ethic to see a process through. This is an important element when considering how they will tackle your project. Will they give up if the going gets tough, or work hard to get the required results?

Accredited companies are more resilient

Because accredited companies can tap into a wider pool of work opportunities, it often follows that they are also more resilient as a business. This can be comforting, particularly in uncertain economical times when businesses are facing heightened risk of collapse.

You want to be confident your contractor will remain operational for the duration of your project.

Layers of protection

You can also have added confidence with accredited companies that there is further action you can take if they don’t perform well. They can be reported to the accrediting body if they fail to maintain the standards required and risk having their quality mark rescinded. This gives them all the more reason to get it right.
